I have been thinking about this dilemma a lot recently…

Almost every one of my clients have tried some sort of diet plan in the past. Most of them had success after following the diet for a few weeks or months, yet they weren’t able to sustain their success long-term. They inevitably felt deprived on their diets and fell back into bad habits, which landed them in my office.

As humans, we want a simple answer. Following a diet plan for a few weeks or months to lose weight or improve blood pressure may seem like a great idea, but what happens after the diet ends? Do you go back to eating the way you did before? This is what happens for a lot of individuals. Once you meet your goal, you start to become less strict until you are back where you started in the blink of an eye.

Raise your hand if you have ever started a diet or work out program, did great for a while, then the first week you couldn’t do it everyday, you just stopped? GUILTY! This all or nothing mentality is a dieters downfall. Remember, something is ALWAYS better than nothing.

Now, think about every diet you have ever tried and then stopped completely. What if you took away only one healthy habit from each diet? Like exercising 2-3 days per week or eating a fruit or vegetable with every meal. This is the idea behind Get Healthy VI’s monthly challenges. Our mission is to help you start making small, yet sustainable, changes in your life by focusing on setting simple weekly goals that take life day by day. Our challenge will teach you how to take each week in stride and set goals to keep you on track.


GET HEALTHY VI is an incentive-based wellness program with monthly themed challenges. Every challenge will provide you with nutrition lessons and weekly or daily tasks to earn raffle entries for a grand prize. The 5 participants with the most entries will be automatically enrolled in the next challenge, free-of-charge.

Participants will be given access to our secure online platform to receive challenge materials, complete tasks, and track food intake for raffle entries. Additionally, earn raffle entries for attending monthly events where participants can check-in with me and engage with other participants.

My vision is not only to connect fellow participants, but also to support healthy businesses in the Virgin Islands. Our members will receive certain benefits in the community that will continue to expand as our program grows.

Where do I sign-up?

To enroll, all you need to do is attend an initial one-on-one session, which includes entrance to your first challenge. Enrollment sessions can be completed at either location or via telehealth. Contact us to schedule your session or request an appointment online. If you have insurance that covers nutrition counseling you may use this for the enrollment session.

DID YOU KNOW? Most private insurance companies, including Cigna, will cover 3-4 nutrition sessions in a year! For anyone with diabetes or kidney disease, Medicare will cover services with a referral from a MD. Contact us for more info to see if your policy covers nutrition services.
